This past November my good friend, Tina, at Peppermint Studios invited us to Australia to shoot a beautiful Rutherglen vineyard wedding and stay at her place out in the bush... and if you know me, you know I took her up on this. I blame my parents who have never (and I seriously mean never) not taken someone up on an offer to visit them. As a child my siblings and I would pile in the suburban, hop on a plane, jump on a catamaran (often without 2 weeks notice or a plan) and explore new lands from Hong Kong to Barbados and we were lucky enough to go wherever the wind took us. I'm hoping my husband is a fan of this, because I've already dragged him to quite a few places I don't think he would have otherwise visited (especially with an under 2 year old) and it doesn't look like we're slowing down any time soon. Anyway, roughly 24 hours after flying across the globe together we made it to Melbourne where we had the best time! The food, design scene, wine and coffee is to die for and I tried very hard to convince David that we shouldn't go back to the States. (2017, you hear me?!)
We had been to Australia before (well, Forrest hadn't) but only to the big cities so it was a real treat to get out and explore the bush with Tina and her family after our Melbourne visit. The Bingham family are quite the hosts! We watched and played cricket, rode on a tractor, swatted lots and lots of flies, bathed in sunscreen, played in the sprinkler, got lots of puppy kisses, had a great wine hour every evening and even saw some kangaroos destroying their crops.
To end out trip we had to visit our dear old Aussie neighbors who had moved back home and now live on the breathtaking Mornington Peninsula. It seemed like just yesterday we were all sitting on our South 4th stoop sans kids and now they have two sweet girls (one brand new!) and we have a boy. How time flies!
Australia, we'll be back!
